Axel Void

Alejandro Hugo Dorda Mevs was born in Miami in 1986 to a Haitian mother and a Spanish father. At the age of three he grew up in Spain, where he was heavily influenced by classical painting and drawing. He moved to Spain at the age of three, where he began his graffiti art at the age of thirteen in the late 1990s. He studied fine arts in Cádiz, Granada and Seville and lived in Berlin until he moved to Miami in 2013, where he currently lives.

In his work, Void processes his multicultural roots, his childhood and his travels. Even if many of these works seem very dark, sometimes even shocking, and address social problems, he tries to add moments of everyday beauty. By providing his works with lettering, he plays with the symbiosis of word and image and at the same time gives his works names. His technique is influenced by classical painting. Graffiti, acrylic and oil colors as well as dark colors and contrasts dominate his incredibly intense works of art.

For the METROPOLINK, both the scene of a birth and the installation of a tank that was sprayed by Axel Void were created at the PHV 2018.
